First Prom to be held for deaf audience

THE BBC is to hold its first Prom for deaf concert-goers.

The 116th annual season – which began yesterday – will feature a regular Prom performance of Stephen Sondheim's music but with lyrics interpreted by a sign language expert for the audience.

The BBC said it was keen to extend its tradition of making the best available to the widest possible audience.
