Five businesses burgled in Skipton town centre

Five businesses have been burgled in Skipton town centre in a series of early hours raids.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information following the burglaries that occurred between 1am and 3.30am on Sunday.

Officers were first alerted to the crimes just before 3.30am when they were called to a report of an on-going burglary at the Two Sisters Bar & Kitchen in Mill Bridge, Skipton.

A witness described hearing the sound of glass smashing and saw a man wearing a black hooded top entering the premises through the front door.

The man fled before police arrived at the scene.

Four further business premises in the town centre were also found to have been targeted - Bean Loved Coffee Shop in Otley Street, The Mill Shop in Rope Walk, The Home Company at High Corn Mill, Chapel Hill, and Dalesway News in Albert Yard.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We are conducting enquiries and are requesting the public’s assistance to establish the full circumstances surrounding these incidents.

“In particular, we are appealing for information about any suspicious people or vehicles that were seen in Skipton town centre during the early hours of Sunday.”
