Five hurt in three-car crash

FIVE people have been injured after a three-car crash near Doncaster.

Two girls, aged 17 and seven, both suffered serious head injuries in the collision on the A19 in Askern, while a 14-year-old boy and two women, aged 73 and 54, were slightly injured.

The collision involved a red Citroen Xsara, driven by a 73-year-old man, a black Mercedes CL500, driven by the 54-year-old woman, and a blue Kia Picanto, driven by the 17-year-old girl.

South Yorkshire Police said the accident happened at 2.45pm on Monday when the Citroen, which was travelling towards Doncaster, was turning right into Norton Common Road and was in collision with the Mercedes, which was believed to be on the wrong side of the road.

The Mercedes then continued on to the A19, where it was in collision with the Kia, which was travelling towards Doncaster.

The injured seven-year-old girl was a passenger in the Kia, the 14-year-old boy was a passenger in the Mercedes and the 73-year-old woman was a passenger in the Citroen.
