Fixed-term planscome under attack

The coalition Government came under fire yesterday over "rushed" plans to introduce five-year fixed-term parliaments.

A cross-party group of MPs attacked the timetable which will see MPs debate the legislation on Monday.

A report from the Political and Constitutional Reform Committee also suggested the plans could be open to legal challenge from the courts.
