Flight change fees sky high for passengers

Air passengers can face sky-high charges when they alter flight bookings.

Changing a flight or the date of a booking can cost up to 40 per person, a survey of British and Ireland airlines by travelsupermarket.com found.

And changing the name of the person flying can set travellers back as much as 120, while some carriers do not allow it. The survey found that passengers wanting refunds either cannot have them or can pay up to 40 for them.

Travelsupermarket.com travel expert Bob Atkinson said: "Many charges can be avoided due to mistakes and carelessness."
