Ms Adams, the first woman to win an Olympic boxing gold medal, revealed the scorpion sculpture at Sheffield Forgemasters International’s (SFIL) 64-acre site.

The statue, made by 21 SFIL apprentices, measures four metres high, two metres wide and six metres long and has been produced from recycled metals found on site. It was the brainchild of chief executive Graham Honeyman and has been designed by public arts sculptor Robin Widdowson from Gotham-D and guest artist Sara Beavan.

Mr Honeymoon said: “We believe the concept of a striking piece of contemporary public art sat on the gateway to our site, will become a real landmark for the city region.”
