Flood alert for Yorkshire as 2ins of heavy rain forecast tomorrow

YORKSHIRE has been put on flood alert following warnings of heavy bursts of rain on Tuesday.

The Met Office says there is a "moderate risk" of severe weather affecting North, West and South Yorkshire, and the potential for heavy, thundery rain.

Rainfall could exceed two inches in a short space of time in places, with a risk of localised flooding.

The warning comes a week after similar conditions engulfed the county, causing small-scale flooding at venues including the Great Yorkahire Showground.

The outlook for Wednesday is for sunny spells and scattered showers across the whole of the UK. Thursday will also be unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times with localised thunder.
