Flood plans lead to pathway relocation

A POPULAR path for walkers and cyclists will be relocated as part of a major flood defence project for Leeds city centre.

Leeds Council’s city plans panel will meet today to discuss the latest proposals for its wide-ranging Flood Alleviation Scheme (FAS).

Among the new elements being considered is a plan to relocate the Leeds part of the Transpennine Trail (TPT), either to the left or right bank. The proposals have led to a flurry of concerned comment from interested groups like Aire Action Leeds.

A number of listed buildings along the River Aire at Holbeck will also undergo amendments as part of the plans.
