Flower arranging stays in bloom

FLOWER-arranging classes run in a village hall after being cancelled at Harrogate's RHS Gardens after nearly 20 years, have rocketed in popularity attracting students from across the region.

The Royal Horticultural Society announced it would not run its usual programme of courses and workshops at Harlow Carr earlier this year, following a decision to review its adult learning events.

However Faith Dawson, who has run the courses for the past 19 years, moved the classes to the Village Hall near her home in Staveley, near Knaresborough.

Now they have become so popular, that Mrs Dawson has been forced to introduce a summer term.

She said: "I wanted to keep the classes together and I am delighted so many students are taking it up.

"I have people coming from Leeds, Wetherby, Bradford and Summerbridge every week."
