TV adventurer Ben Fogle will reunite with James Cracknell for a gruelling desert challenge next year, ahead of his daring attempt to swim across the Atlantic Ocean.
The daredevil duo, whose previous expeditions include rowing across the Atlantic and racing to the South Pole together, will team up for the first time since Cracknell, a double Olympic rowing gold medallist, suffered a serious brain injury after he was hit by a truck in July 2010.
It happened while he was attempting to travel from Los Angeles to New York in 16 days – running, cycling, rowing and swimming.
Fogle, 39, said they would take part in a “desert-based” expedition before he takes on his most punishing challenge alone, spending up to 12 hours a day in the water to cross the Atlantic in his target of 100 days.
“It’s a big desert-based challenge and very different to anything we’ve done before, given we’ve covered ice and snow and water. It will be pretty special.”
Full details of their challenge are set to be announced in the new year.
