Folk festival a sell-out success
ORGANISERS of a long-running Yorkshire folk festival, which marked its 40th anniversary with a series of events last weekend, said all three of its major concerts had been sell-outs.
The Wath Festival was founded in 1972 by the South Yorkshire town’s Morris dancing team and has expanded over the last 10 years to include music workshops, competitions and community events.
Evening concerts were held throughout the bank holiday, with headliners including Fairport Convention, the Billy Mitchell Band and Home Service.
A spokesman for the event said: “From the moment the concert doors opened on Friday, May 4, it was clear that the music community was keen to support the event.”
