Food fair to build on success with more business backers

Food producers are being invited to take up a stall at one of the region's top gastronomic events, which is set to take place near Chesterfield later this year.

The Derbyshire Food Fair, organised by Derbyshire County Council, is being held at Hardwick Hall on Saturday May 21 and Sunday May 22.

Sponsors are also needed to back the event, which last year attracted about 10,000 visitors.

Derbyshire County Council's cabinet member for regeneration, Councillor Simon Spencer, said: "This is a huge event which is now firmly on Derbyshire's culinary calendar.

"It is a great opportunity for local businesses and organisations to get their names in front of thousands of local people and visitors.

"I'd urge businesses to consider supporting this very popular event, which contributes greatly to the county's economy through tourism and promoting local produce and suppliers."

Marquees set around the Elizabethan country estate will house stalls selling a variety of locally-produced food and drink, together with cookery demonstrations from television chefs including Simon Rimmer and Dean Andrews.

There will also be a range of family entertainment on offer including live music, competitions, crafts and face painting.

Further details for potential sponsors of the Fair are available from the county council's tourism officer Stephanie Walsh on 01629 538464.

The organisers have already said that they are looking for people to sponsor the titles, celebrity theatre, gates, food awards ceremony and as more general contributors.
