Food group in UK sale plan

Food giant Vion has announced plans to sell off its UK business.

The Dutch food group, which employs 13,000 people at 38 sites across the UK, including five locations across the region, is selling its UK units to focus on markets in the Netherlands and Germany.

Peter Barr, chairman of Vion UK, said: “The level of interest in
the businesses has been strong and we hope to be in a position in the near future to give further details.”

The company’s UK interests include poultry production at Thorne, near Doncaster, as well as pork production based in Scunthorpe, Malton, and Hull and the Oerlemann’s Food plant in Grimsby.
