Food for thought...

Half of UK children learn about food from trips to the supermarket and almost as many have never been to a working farm, according to a study.

Nearly one in 10 parents had never taken their children to the countryside for a day trip or long walk, the survey of 3,000 urban mothers and fathers for Waitrose found. Another 28 per cent visited the countryside very occasionally, while 48 per cent said their children would get as much from visiting a city farm as they would from a rural farm.
