Food for thought on poll outcome

IF the results of a rather uncoventional opinion poll by a Yorkshire hotel are to believed, the country will be waking up to David Cameron as Prime Minister tomorrow.

For the past month the Monkbar Hotel in York has been taking the political temperature of its diners with a politically-themed menu.

It allowed diners to choose between Gordon "Brown ale and beef sausages", David "Clameron chowder with blue-mer" bread and Nick "Clegg of lamb".

And with the votes now counted the hotel's bosses can reveal Tory leader Mr Cameron secured a win with an impressive 44 per cent of the vote - or some 103 meals to be precise.

Coming in second with 38 per cent was Lib Dem leader Mr Clegg, followed by Mr Brown on 17 per cent.
