Football club boss inquest adjourned

An inquest into the death of Nottingham Forest owner Nigel Doughty was opened and adjourned.

Mr Doughty was found collapsed in the gym of his home in Skillington, Grantham, Lincolnshire, last Saturday afternoon.

An inquest at Lincoln Cathedral Centre yesterday heard post- mortem tests on the 54-year-old had so far proved inconclusive.

Paramedics called to the property tried to resuscitate Mr Doughty, but he was confirmed dead at the scene at 1.59pm.

Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. They believed Mr Doughty, who was born in Park Village, north west London, had died of natural causes.

Mr Doughty, who saved Nottingham Forest from administration when he bought the club for £11m in 1999, led a Small Business Taskforce which made recommendations to Labour late last year that will be considered as part of the party’s policy-making process.
