Forensic officers in search for clues after man found hanged

Detectives are investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were found in a Bradford flat. Officers discovered the body of a man hanging in the bedsit in the Manningham area of the city on Monday evening.

A search of the multi-occupancy property in Hallfield Road then led to the discovery of a second body.

The sex of the second had not been confirmed last night as the remains were still being examined by forensic experts. A post-mortem examination is due to be conducted today.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 8.53pm on Monday to reports of a sudden death at a flat in Hallfield Road in Bradford where the body of a man was recovered. Officers searched the property and found a further body inside.

"This investigation is currently at an early stage and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. The incident is being treated as suspicious."

Scenes of crime officers and police yesterday continued a detailed examination of the converted house, which is about a mile from Bradford city centre. The bodies are thought to have been found in an upper floor flat in the terrace property.

Residents in the area spoke of their shock at the discovery but said they had not known those living there.

"There were a lot of Eastern European living there.
