Former editor means business at lunch

FORMER Sunday Times editor Andrew Neil will be the main speaker at the Institute of Directors' (IoD) Humber Lunch.

The East Yorkshire branch of the institute is hosting the event on Monday, June 7, at Hull's KC Stadium, which will mark the launch of Business Week.

Branch chairman Richard Tuplin said: "The Humber Lunch is one of the highlights of our events calendar and we always aim to secure high-profile speakers that will be sure to inform, inspire and entertain business leaders from across the region.

"The event is always very popular so I would urge people to book their places early to avoid disappointment."

After working for the Conservative Party in the 1970s, Neil joined The Economist as a correspondent before becoming its UK editor. He began an 11-year stint as Sunday Times editor in 1983.

He is now the main presenter of This Week on BBC1, which also features co-presenters Diane Abbot and Michael Portillo, and The Daily Politics Show on BBC2.

Tickets for the lunch, which is being held from 12.30pm to 3.30pm, cost 47 for IoD members or 54 for non-members, while a table for 10 costs 450.
