Former police station is sold for £1.5m after bid accepted

Police bosses in North Yorkshire have accepted an offer for the former police station on North Park Road in Harrogate.

Julia Mulligan, North Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner said yesterday she has accepted an offer for the former police station on North Park Road in Harrogate for £1.5m, with a further £350,000 if planning permission is granted.

The identity of the buyer has not been revealed.

North Yorkshire Police said the income it will receive was in line with expectations. The property failed to meet a reserve prices of £1.9m at auction earlier this year but work has been ongoing since then with interested buyers.

Mrs Mulligan said: “We now have an empty building which can be developed into something useful for Harrogate residents, as well as capital funds which North Yorkshire Police can reinvest into its estates programme meaning improved services for the public.”

Harrogate Borough Council was forced to scrap plans to move its headquarters to the site when it became Grade II listed.
