Formula 1 champ's mother in hotel blaze

The mother of Formula One world champion Jenson Button was among 60 guests who had to be evacuated from a hotel during a blaze on Monday night.

Simone Button was among the guests at the Northamptonshire hotel – which is popular with visitors to the British Grand Prix at nearby Silverstone – when the fire broke out.

Yesterday, Button – who was at Silverstone preparing for this weekend's event – said: "She has lost a few possessions but other than that she is fine."

Two men – a 36-year-old from Coventry and a 20-year-old from Leicester –were arrested on suspicion of arson but were released on bail pending further inquiries.
