Forty-mile way of the cross
A PRIEST is walking 40 miles carrying a 27lb cross to raise funds for a Yorkshire community.
Father Peter Needham, the parish priest of St Luke’s Church in Grimethorpe, Barnsley and St Paul’s Church in Brierley, is hoping to arrive in South Yorkshire tomorrow after setting off from York Minster yesterday. He raised £40,000 walking barefoot between Grimethorpe to York in 2003. Fr Needham is walking with church warden Mike Mowbray to raise funds for a new village hall in his parish.
