Four remanded over murder of shopkeeper

A MAN and three teenagers appeared briefly in court yesterday charged with the murder of a Yorkshire shopkeeper.

Muawaz Khalid, 20, of Blackmoorfoot Road, Huddersfield, and three 17-year-old boys, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared before magistrates accused of the murder and robbery of Gurmail Singh, 63.

He died after a raid on the shop, in the Cowcliffe area of Huddersfield, on February 20.

The hearing at Huddersfield Magistrates' Court lasted a few minutes. The accused were remanded in custody to appear at Bradford Crown Court on Monday.
