“Galvanize Sheffield will showcase individuals’ work and the dynamic development of industry and research in the city.

“Sheffield is a city synonymous with the metal trades. It is famed for its production of fine cutlery and heavy engineering that shaped the world.

“The festival is an affirmation that investing in skills and innovation in making beautiful treasures, practical tools and powerful products is at the heart of the city’s future.”

During the festival, an exhibition entitled Beneath the Skin will run at Sheffield Hallam University’s Furnival building. The curator is Maria Hanson, reader in metalwork and jewellery at the university and the project brings together academic research to reveal the ideas that underpin works of art.
