Free adviceon offer to rural businesses

RURAL businesses in North Lincolnshire can get advice on how to survive and prosper at two free events next month.

Shop owners can get advice on merchandising and displays and how to create the mindset to “thrive and survive” at a workshop being run by the Rural Shops Alliance at Arties Mill, Brigg, on Thursday March 25.

The RSA is a national trade association representing about 8,000 owners of independent rural shops. It provides practical to help shopkeepers to help them improve their businesses.

An event for pub owners and licensees is being run by Pub is the Hub on Tuesday March 30, at the Haven Inn, Barrow Haven.

This will set out to help people develop and implement ideas and work with the community.

Pub is the Hub is a not-for-profit group started by Prince Charles in 2001.

It encourages rural pub owners, licensees, and their local communities to work together to bring vital local services – such as post offices, convenience stores and making school dinners – into country pubs to improve their business prospects.

Both events are free to people in North Lincolnshire but cost 10 for others, as they are being supported by the local council.

Council leader, Councillor Mark Kirk, said: “These workshops will help country pubs and shops look at new and unconventional ways of generating more business and helping their communities.

“Both sessions will help people generate ideas to move their business forward as well as providing an opportunity to make new contacts.

“They’re both free and I urge everyone eligible to go along and find out more.”
