Fresh appeal to find Bradford man’s killer

As friends and family prepare to pay tribute to Clement Desmier at his funeral service today, officers yesterday urged anyone with information to contact them.

The body of Mr Desmier was found at his home on Rowlestone Rise, Bradford, during the afternoon of Thursday, August 23. A post mortem revealed the 68-year-old grandfather died of multiple injuries, but police have never revealed how he died.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Mark Ridley, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET), said: “It is just over two months since the death of Mr Desmier and clearly an upsetting time for all close to him. Mr Desmier was much loved and our thoughts are with those paying their respects.

“I am calling on the community to come forward with any information that will help his family and friends receive the answers they deserve.

“The breakthrough we need is likely to lie locally and even the smallest detail could lead us to tracing those responsible.

“Mr Desmier was in the company of a man as he entered his home address during the afternoon of August 22 and that was the last sighting of him alive.

“We still do not know who this man is and it imperative that we are able to quickly speak to him as part of our enquiry.

“This is the last known sighting of Mr Desmier and the information this individual may hold could be key to our investigations.”

Police are also very keen to trace two men reported to have been acting suspiciously outside Mr Desmier’s home during the early hours of August 23.

Det Supt Ridley said: “If you can help us identify any of these people, either during Mr Desmier’s last sighting or outside the address the following morning, please get in touch.”
