Fresh designs judged as fundraising campaign to create garden of 70,000 Yorkshire roses continues

The judging day comes as the Bloomin Yorkshire campaign to find a new interpretation of the county’s white rose symbol continues, with the ultimate aim of up to 70,000 being made and planted as part of a display at York Museum Gardens in 2018.

Designs submitted by school pupils from across the county were judged at Leeds’ Foundry Restaurant.

Horsforth kidney dialysis patient Janice Richardson is behind the campaign, which is raising funds for organ donation charities and Kidney Research UK.

At the launch of the contest earlier this year, Mrs Richardson said: “This blooming symbol of our great county played on my mind.

“I knew I could use it to spread the joy and positivity I feel about life and where I live, as a reminder that no matter what happens, life is bloomin’ marvellous.”

The winning design and two runners-up will be revealed later this month.
