Fresh energy-switch bid to cut bills

Bradford Council is the latest local authority in Yorkshire to try to save people money on their energy bills.

People across the district are being urged to sign up to a community energy switching scheme which aims to shave hundreds of pounds off household energy bills.

The council has joined forces with Community Energy Direct and consumer champions Which? to try to get the best deal from energy companies, working on the premise that the more people who join the scheme, the more likely they are to get a better deal from the energy suppliers.

Coun Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council’s executive member for the environment, said: “It really is a very simple way for households to tackle the challenge of
ever-rising gas and electricity prices.

“The more people who join the scheme, without obligation at this stage, then the greater the potential to deliver the lowest possible energy prices for users across the Bradford district.”

People have until April 17 to sign up for the switch and can find out more by visiting
