Fresh faces set out their stall

A new "Bizaar Quarter" has been launched at Leeds's Kirkgate Market to help budding entrepreneurs.

The area consists of eight new market stalls which provide an opportunity for anyone with a business idea or product to trial it at the market for 12 weeks at a reduced rate with ongoing business support and mentoring by the Leeds Kirkgate Market team.

Three of the stallholders taking part in the initiative are shown above: from left, Dawn Wood (Ages of Elegance), Marcia Bravo (Room in a Boxx) and Grazyna Bylinka (Oriflame).

Sharing the Success, the Leeds Local Enterprise Growth Initiative programme, and Leeds City Council are behind the scheme.

The Bizaar Quarter has grown out of the How Bizaar stall which launched last year to give potential traders chance to trial their products for free.

Simon Brereton, programme manager of Sharing the Success, said: “The Bizaar Quarter will continue the fantastic work that has already been done to open up the market to new traders selling their own products – jewellery, clothing, crafts and millinery are just some of the examples of past clients.”Picture: Mark Bickerdike.
