Fresh phase for battle against blight
Last year the area around Birk Lea Street was made the subject of a special order to get rid of anti-social street drinkers, now Bradford Council wardens are pressing ahead with further improvements.
The council’s action plan for the area has been reviewed and further issues have been identified, particularly litter and large amounts of rubbish left.

Hide AdBradford East Council Wardens have now begun intensive work to make sure everyone who lives in the area is aware of their responsibilities to get rid of waste and litter properly. Residents will be visited and landlords contacted regularly, as the area around Birk Lea Street has a large proportion of rented properties and there is a high turnover of residents.
Council deputy leader Imran Hussain said: “This is an ideal opportunity for our new warden service to show how effective it can be in tackling a range of issues affecting the quality of life of our residents. Working with other agencies and residents of the area we can show what a vital role our wardens can play in the community.”
