Fruitful day for urban harvest

Leeds Urban Harvest, a voluntary-run project that collects and distributes fruits that grow unharvested around Leeds on trees and bushes has teamed up with All Hallows this season and yesterday apples it had gathered were juiced at an event at the church.

Fruit is distributed to groups, volunteers and the local community and damaged fruits are turned into juice, preserves, jams and chutneys by those behind the Leeds Urban Harvest. The group aims to raise awareness of the abundance of local food that is available. Yesterday those taking part were encouraged to bring a bottle to take juice home in. PICTURE: JONATHAN GAWTHORPE.
