Funding fair aims to help community

COMMUNITY and voluntary groups in the East Riding can find out how to get financial backing for their projects at a funding fair in Goole next month.

East Riding Voluntary Action Services (ERVAS) is hosting the event at The Junction, on Tuesday, September 7, from 10am to 4pm. The fair is being sponsored by Charity Bank in the North, supported by East Riding Council, and will be attended by a range of grant-giving organisations and support agencies.

Those confirmed as taking part include Rural Partnership Plus, the Big Lottery Fund, Heritage Lottery, Key Fund Yorkshire, Lloyds TSB, WREN, Comic Relief, and East Riding Community Support Fund.

General advice will also be given by the council's external funding team, ERVAS and the Humber and Wolds Rural Community Council. Support services manager for funding at ERVAS Judith McKelvey said: "This is an excellent opportunity for local community and voluntary sector groups to meet with funders face-to-face.

"It will offer them the chance to discuss details of their proposals."

A free bus service from Howdenshire villages can take people to the venue. To book, call 01405 780344 by Tuesday August 31.
