Fundraisers scale dizzy new heights

THE chairman of trustees of a Yorkshire hospice will take part in a fundraising trek to Nepal to mark the charity’s 25th anniversary.

Graham Millar, a regular walker who has been to Nepal before, will be joined by his wife, Margaret, and her daughter, Lucy Robertson – neither of whom have experienced high altitude trekking before.

A group of other supporters of St Leonard’s Hospice in York, including the director of fundraising, Janet Morley, and her husband, Phil, will also be taking part.

Mrs Millar said: “Trekking in Nepal isn’t something I’d ever considered before, but I’m really looking forward to the experience, and all that fantastic scenery.”

The event, which is being organised by Community Action Treks, will take place between October 28 and November 7. Fundraisers will walk for up to eight hours a day and are each guaranteeing to raise at least 1,000 for the hospice.

St Leonard’s Hospice has produced an information leaflet about the Nepal trek, which can be downloaded from the website at www.stleonardshospice.org.uk. Details are also available by calling the hospice’s fundraising centre on 01904 777777.
