Fundraising day for cancer charity

LIVE music, golf, magic and a variety of food stalls will be on offer at a family fun day this Sunday in aid of Cavendish Cancer Care.

The free event, at Sheffield's Whirlowbrook Hall, will run from 10.30am to 4pm and will also include demonstrations from Sheffield Thunder Aussie Rules football team, Sheffield Tai Chi Club, the Sheffield Woodturning Club and professional golfer Adam McCabe.

Philippa Debono, sales and marketing manager at Whirlowbrook Hall and its sister hotel the Maynard, said: "I think everyone agrees that Cavendish Cancer Care does superb work in helping those suffering from or living with the impact of cancer on their lives.

"The more people who come along on the day, hopefully the more we can raise for such a worthwhile cause."

All proceeds from Sunday's fair will be donated to Sheffield-based Cavendish Cancer Care, which was established 15 years ago to give free emotional support to people and families affected by cancer in Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

This is the first of a programme of events to be organised by the management team at Whirlowbrook Hall with support from Sheffield Council's parks and countryside events team.
