The grand finale of the day was a winter wonderland fashion show by Tiffany’s of Doncaster.

This year’s event, hosted by Sally Richardson, fundraiser at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals, was to raise money for End of Life rooms to ensure that everyone who is in the last days and hours of life, and those important to them, receive high quality care, tailored to their needs and wishes and delivered with compassion and competence.

Miriam Boyack, ward manager on one of the wards where a room is near to completion, said: “The provision of the End of Life room is hugely important to our patients and their families.

“To be able to truly care for a patient at the end of their life can make such a difference, not only to the patient but it also enables families to come to terms with what is happening and start the grieving process. It is also very important for the nursing staff to be able to provide such a high quality of care which will mean so much at such an important phase in a patient’s life.”

The event has been hosted for over 10 years and is well supported by the local community who see this event as the start of their festive season. A spokesman for the event said: “Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s luncheon for their continued support and for helping to make the luncheon such a success year after year.

“Money is still coming in for the event but early indications show that just over £4,000 was raised which is a phenomenal amount at this time of year.”
