Funds drive for cancer drop-in centre

PHARMACY staff from Chesterfield are set to undertake variousfundraising activities in a bid to raise enough money to set up a new cancer drop-in centre.

Joy McDermott and Kate Walker are part of a support group that has been established to provide support for patients, their relatives and

friends.

Ms Walker said: "We eventually want to provide a separate treatment room where we can offer aromatherapy and massage, and potentially invite local advisors such as Citizen's Advice. There is currently nothing like this available in Chesterfield.

"We've got lots of fundraising events planned. I'm running the London marathon in April and Joy's husband, Tony, is cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End in May."

A meeting of the support group is set to take place tomorrow from 6.30pm at the Polish Club near Saltergate. For more information call group chairman Barbara Wallace on 07564152921.
