Fury at sewage leak on beach

A water company has been criticised after a raw sewage leak poured untreated effluent on to one of Cornwall’s most popular beaches unchecked over the Christmas period.

Campaign group Surfers Against Sewage said action should have been taken to stem the flow from a large manhole cover which allowed the untreated discharge to pollute the beach at Sennen Cove, near Land’s End, for more than a week. South West Water said it was investigating the incident.
