Future Bond Star on wrong side of law in Aidensfield

ONE of the famous names to end up on the wrong side of the law in the Heartbeat village of Aidensfield was future James Bond star Daniel Craig.

Craig was yet to land his breakthrough role in Our Friends in the North when he was cast as the hapless Peter Begg in a 1993 storyline entitled A Chilly Reception Part One in the third series of the show.

A very young Craig is first seen by viewers sinking a pint in the pub when Pc Nick Rowan – played by Nick Berry – pinches one of his crisps.

Finding his former girlfriend about to get married, he breaks into her home in a fit of jealous rage and steals her wedding presents before damaging floral displays in the church.
