Gallery marks milestone with celebration of its ties with artists

A North Yorkshire gallery which has made a name for itself by showcasing some of Britain's finest ceramics and paintings in a converted dairy is celebrating a milestone.

The Lund Gallery, near Easingwold, opened its doors five years ago this

month. To celebrate, the venue is hosting a new exhibition featuring artists whose work underlines the diversity of young art and design in the UK today.

James Naughton's distinctive landscape paintings have earned him a reputation as one of the most gifted young painters of the landscape tradition working today.

Celebrated landscape painter Emerson Mayes will be showing a suite of wildlife prints as well as his paintings.

Also included in the show are pots by makers who have been represented by the Lund since it first opened its doors – Sam Hall, a native of West Yorkshire who now lives in St Ives, and Devon-based couple Rupert Johnston and Alice Hartford.

Gallery owner Debbie Loane said: "It is rewarding as a gallery owner to be able to forge long term relationships with emerging artists and to watch their careers go from strength to strength."

The Autumn Show opens at the gallery in Alne Road on Sunday and continues until Saturday November 6. For more information call 01347 824400.
