Gallery provides platform for leading urban artists

Urban art created by some of the UK’s most exciting emerging painters and sculptors is set to go on display at a special exhibition in North Yorkshire this week.

Hosted by Redhouse Originals in Harrogate, A Meeting of Minds will feature original paintings on canvas from King Adz and Colin Wilson, as well as ceramic sculptures from Nick Reynolds and Wilma $.

The gallery, which has just celebrated its first birthday, is a well-known supporter of contemporary street art and has hosted exhibitions featuring Banksy and Rourke Van Dal.

King Adz is considered a leading figure in the street graffiti and urban art movement, after publishing the encyclopaedic ‘Street Knowledge’ featuring interviews with Banksy, Irvine Welsh and David LaChapelle.

The exhibition will see his work go on display in a gallery setting for the first time.

A gallery spokesman said: “We are delighted to premiere these paintings in Harrogate and thus provide a glimpse into the best kept secret in urban contemporary art. The exhibition will also feature the unveiling of King Adz’s collaboration with Blek le Rat – the stunning mixed media collage All Things Must Pass.”

The exhibition launches with a collectors’ preview at the gallery on Cheltenham Mount on Friday, with the show continuing until November 6.
