Gardeners urged to master skills for flower festival

A COMPETITION is being launched to crown the gardener with the most talent at the UK’s premier autumn flower festival.

The title of Master Gardener will be awarded by the North of England Horticultural Society at the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show, that will be held at Harrogate’s Great Yorkshire Showground from September 14 to 16. Growers are being challenged to impress judges with four top class exhibits of fruit, vegetables, flowers and potted plants.

The show’s director Martin Fish, pictured, said: “What we are looking for is all-round excellence, someone who can turn their hand to growing several different types of produce and can demonstrate that they truly are a Master Gardener.”

Entries close on September 8. Details are available at www.flowershow.org.uk.
