Gas works halted by bats under bridge
Gas pipe works on a bridge in Otley are on hold after a colony of bats was found.
Engineers from Northern Gas Networks are due to replace a gas main that runs under Billams Hill Bridge, but they have delayed the start date after dozens of the Daubenton bats were found roosting.
The gas distributor is now working with Natural England, the Environment Agency and consultant ecologists to survey the area.
