Gems robbers attack man with hammer

Police are appealing for help after a man was attacked with a hammer.

Dewsbury CID would like to speak to anyone who has information about the incident which took place at a house on Ings Road, Batley, at around 12.20pm last Friday.

Two men entered the property and threatened a 51-year-old man and two other men inside.

One of the pair then assaulted the 51-year-old with a hammer, causing cuts to his head and chest injuries which required hospital treatment.

Both robbers then fled, taking some jewellery with them. Police believe they then got into a red car which was parked outside before making off.

The first robber is described as Asian and in his late teens, about 5ft 7in tall and slightly built.

The other was black, aged about 25, 5ft 10in tall and slightly built with short black hair.
