SCARBOROUGH and Whitby MP Robert Goodwill has been banging on about the state of the A64 York to Scarborough road since his inception in this post, and has constantly reminded us of the effect on the economy of East Coast, due to a lack of a dual carriageway etc between these locations.
Well now he has been promoted to a Minister in the Department for Transport, he had better get the cheque book out!

I DO agree with Father Neil McNicholas’s article on signs (Yorkshire Post, October 8). Travelling south on the A1 you will see a sign ‘For Ripon Cathederal follow signs for Ripon’. I would have thought that obvious!

I’M amused by a current advertisement for what I assume is for hair control/removal.
However, with the correct use of English, its name promotes exactly the opposite. I was taught that a double negative becomes a positive, thus no no becomes yes. Nowhere in these adverts is a price mentioned, but I believe this is in the order of £200.
A bit steep to wake up with a beard!

IF the marketing of Leeds is so important in order to attract jobs, why not abolish scandal-hit Leeds and Partners and give the job to Welcome to Yorkshire (Yorkshire Post, October 11)? After all, they’re the ones bringing the Tour de France to the city.
