Giggs brother ‘in shock over wife’s affair claim’

THE brother of Ryan Giggs is “in shock” over claims that the Manchester United footballer had an affair with his wife, a close friend said yesterday.

TV star Will Mellor told ITV1’s Daybreak programme: “It’s a horrible time, imagine having your world tipped upside down in one night.”

Asked if Rhodri Giggs, 34, was still in shock, Mellor said: “Yes, horrendous time for everyone who’s innocent in this and I just hope it blows over sooner rather than later and he can start rebuilding his life. Horrendous time.”

The claims emerged after footballer Giggs, 37, who has two children with his wife Stacey, 32, obtained a court order banning publication of details of an alleged affair he had with Big Brother housemate Imogen Thomas.

The injunction was breached in the House of Commons after details appeared on the internet, although Ms Thomas is still barred from speaking about it and is planning to challenge the order.

The News of the World reported at the weekend that Natasha Giggs had told friends she met the footballer in 2003, the same year she met his brother.

She alleges that the affair carried on even after she married Rhodri last September.
