Girl dies after being hit by van
A five-year-old girl has died after being hit by a van at a travellers’ caravan site in Wakefield.
Police say the girl, who has not been named, was involved in an incident with a red transit van at the Heath Common Caravan Park on Doncaster Road, Wakefield at around 6pm last night. (Monday, August 8)
The girl was taken to Pinderfields Hospital but later died of her injuries.
A 22 year old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
