Girl hurt in freak accident at fish and chip shop

AN 11-YEAR-OLD girl was taken to hospital after a car being driven by an elderly couple mounted a dry stone wall and smashed into a fish and chips shop’s outdoor eating area.

The young girl was eating her meal in the outside area of the fish and chip shop in Cowling, near Keighley, at around 1pm on Saturday, when a car driven by the couple in their 80s lost control and hit the dry stone wall.

The girl was pinned to the ground and trapped under the car with tables and chairs scattered around.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Service said they attended the scene and freed the girl from the debris following the freak accident.

She was taken to hospital by ambulance.
