A special ‘Go Tri’ event for people of all abilities is being launched today, which will see residents tackle a fun mini triathlon including a 200metre swim, 10km bike ride and 2.5km run during a sports festival in Roundhay Park on June 11.

London 2012 Olympic triathlete Lucy Hall is joining Leeds City Council cycling champion Coun Roger Harington at Armley Leisure Centre today to unveil the idea which is part of the build-up to Leeds’ ITU World Triathlon Series debut.

Jenny Vincent, triathlon engagement project manager at Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds, said: “Launching our Go Tri event today in Armley is really exciting, providing a great opportunity for the local community to ‘Tri Something New’ and get active. Over the coming months we will be confirming a host of swim, cycle and run sessions locally, that will aim to maximise the excitement and legacy of the Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds.”

There are 500 places available for the Go Tri, which is part of the Tri Something New programme – a series of events as part of Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds weekend.
