Give the gift of childhood to young helpers

Have your say

Today the Yorkshire Post launches its Give Young Carers a Break appeal in aid of the thousands of selfless children in the region who devote their time to looking after sick or disabled relatives.

This Christmas we are calling on readers and businesses to help give them the precious gift of childhood by making a donation or bidding in our online auction.

Money raised will help fund special, fun-filled days out that will give young carers some much-deserved respite from their responsibilities.

James Lambert, CEO of R&R Ice Cream, which is supporting the appeal, said: “I am delighted R&R is sponsoring the Yorkshire Post’s charity appeal this year. Young carers are an excellent choice and as they give freely of their time to help others, I urge everyone to dig deep.”

The Yorkshire Post has teamed up with the Yorkshire Community Foundation network to distribute funds.

Groups that work with the region’s young carers are asked to write to us to apply for a share of the cash.

Email with a brief outline of your work and full contact details by December 31. We will contact you for more details and applications will be considered in the New Year.
