Going for gold

A £100 gold coin depicting the Roman god Neptune from the Royal Mint's Olympic-themed Faster set is held up in front of a sculpture of Neptune and Triton at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

The coin is part of the new Gold Series – an exclusive collection created in 22 carat gold.

Each coin set in the series reflects an aspect of Citius, Altius, Fortius, the Olympic motto in Latin for Faster, Higher, Stronger.

The "Faster" set is the first to go on sale in the countdown to London 2012 and features Neptune on the 100 coin and fellow Roman gods Diana and Mercury who appear on the 25 coins.
