Going green

WITH Yorkshire on the cusp of a green energy revolution which could underpin the economy for decades, the importance of the environment – from both an employment and a conservation perspective – has never been greater.

Both themes have been championed by the Yorkshire Post Environment Awards which celebrate the innovative work being carried out in this region.

Yorkshire is already at the forefront of this country’s efforts to become more sustainable. Up to £1bn is set to be invested in renewable energy projects in the Humber with more than 4,000 jobs in the pipeline through plans to build Europe’s largest offshore wind park off the Yorkshire coast.

Yet smaller companies, and individuals, can also make a difference. Now in their fourth year, the awards offer an unique chance to both celebrate and promote green deeds in 11 categories. It’s an opportunity too good to be missed.
